AER LINGUS Baggage Policy - Updated APRIL 2024
Baggage allowance on Aer Lingus flights for Airline Employees on Vacation and Duty Travel.
- SHORT-HAUL FLIGHTS ( UK & EUROPE)
- Checked Bag:
- Aer Lingus allows 1 Free checked Bag max 20kg for Employee and their Qualified relatives.
- Cabin Bag:
- 1 free cabin bag of 10kg which must be checked in at the Stand-by desk with your checked luggage.
- Staff are not permitted to bring a cabin bag to the gate unless it can fit under their seat (1handbag/Lap-top/backpack/hold-all bag).
- Cabin bags that are deemed too big by Ground staff will be taken & checked into the hold. Staff will be charged EUR35 per cabin bag.
- Staff on Concession travel will not be able to pay for their Cabin-bag on line, at the Stand-by desk or at the EI Check in Desks.
- New Cabin baggage rule will go live in all airports across our Short-Haul network on the 29 June 2021.
- Staff may pool their bags when travelling with their family on Aer Lingus staff tickets only.
- Excess charges will apply if Staff are over their baggage allowance and will be charged if bringing Golf Clubs/Skis or other oversized items.
- Normal baggage allowances apply for excess charges and on Web/full fare Revenue bookings.
LONG-HAUL FLIGHTS ( USA/CANADA/BARBADOS) :
Checked Bag:
- Aer Lingus allows 2 Free Checked bags a max of 23kg per bag for Employee & Qualifed Relatives on Standby concession tickets.
- Cabin Bag
- 1 Free cabin bag of 10kg which can be taken on board Long-haul flights only on Standby concesson travel.
- Children (2-11yrs ) are entitled to the same baggage allowance as adults and Infants( 0-23mths) have 10kg allowance and a buggy/stroller on USA/Canada flights and a buggy/stroller only on UK and Europe flights.
- Staff may pool their bags when travelling with their family on Aer Lingus Standby travel tickets only.
- Excess charges will apply if Staff Travellers are over their bag allowance and will be charged if bringing Golf Clubs/Skis or other oversized items.

Staff Travel helps connect our colleagues, their families, and their friends.
When travelling on a Staff Travel ticket concessions you are representing the airline.
We expect you will use good judgement when deciding what to wear for your journey.
Please think of our customers and show sensitivity towards them by dressing in a manner that does not stand out.
Jeans, t-shirts and casual shoes are acceptable provided that some basic rules are applied (see below).
Unacceptable attire:
- Jeans, trousers or dungarees with cut off/frayed hems with rips or with holes.
- Overly revealing or sheer clothing.
- Sportswear or Activewear (gym clothes).
- Football/Sporting/Soccar Tops or shorts.
- Beach clothing (including swim wear/beach footwear)
- Clothing with questionable/offensive wording or graphics
- Shorts of any length.
*Colleagues and/or their nominees can be refused travel if not suitably dressed.
Conduct
- Travel Privileges are available only for vacation purposes and must not be used by employees or their relatives for business travel.
- Revenue and Duty Guests have priority on available seats. Privilege ticket holders may be asked at points of departure and stops along the journey to give up their seats or move seats for our Revenue Guests. Employees should always make sure that they have sufficient back up tickets for this contingency.
- There is a strict ‘Neat and Clean’ dress code of ‘Smart Casual’ for Privilege travellers. If Employees or Qualified Travellers are inappropriately dressed they will not be allowed to travel on Aer Lingus.
- Employees must do everything possible to avoid drawing attention to the fact that they are a privilege ticket holder. This includes: not ‘talking shop’ or unnecessarily identifying yourself as airline staff or a person entitled to privilege travel. Employees that are working should also be discreet to employees or Qualified Travellers that are travelling.
- Employees have the responsibility to ensure that all Qualified Travellers appreciate the limitations of the Employee’s privileges. When travelling all Qualified Relatives should behave in an appropriate manor which reflects well on Aer Lingus.
- Any breach of the above rules could lead to disciplinary action and /or the loss of staff travel concessions for yourself and your family and will be reported to your Airline, Line Manager , HR or Interline office.
EMERALD AIRLINES/CODE SHARE FLIGHTS EI3000-3999.
There is no agreement for Other Airlines to use an AER LINGUS concession standby tickets on Emerald airlines services EI3000-3999.
How old does a Child have to be to travel alone on Concession Travel with AER LINGUS ?
The rule for children (on Concession travel) under 16 Years of age is that they must be accompanied on all Staff Travel standby tickets and Concession tickets by an accompanying adult over the age of 16 years WHO is also travelling on the same type of Concession staff ticket.
This rules applies to most IATA Airlines on Concession Standby travel tickets.
YOUNG PASSENGERS ON AER LINGUS:
Aer Lingus does not accept young passengers under the age of 16years travelling alone on Ei concession travel tickets.
If your child is under over 12 but under 16years of age and has to travel alone then you MUST purchase a full Revenue ticket on line with
www.aerlingus.com. Aer LIngus does not accept Young passengers on full revenue tickets under the age of 12years.
